okay here’s the deal i bought a new pc, put it all together and now it wont install windows 7, keeps saying i need drivers

i have downloaded the supposed drivers from the asus website and nothing still doesnt work
i have updated the bios to the latest version per there website and still no clue. ive spent like 7 hours so far to get windows to install and its pissing me right off

i did manage to get a copy of xp 32 bit to install this morning and try to install the windows over it but it still says i need drivers

i have bought a oem for system builders version of 7 64 bit so its legit.

i dont know what else to tell ya

also what is the chipset drivers? and how do i install them? would it be any benift to install them?

oh i forgot to tell ya i have it set on ide thats the only way windows will try and boot from the disc. if i put it to raid or achi it says boot mananger missing

First, double check that your dvd drive is set to the first boot device (otherwise your system will try and boot from the hd first).

The drivers it’s asking for are ahci/sata drivers so that it can locate the drive to install windows on to. During installation when it tells you it needs drivers you should have the option to choose a driver to load. You’ll need to put the unzipped chipset drivers you downloaded on a usb stick or a disk of some sort.

Just put in the dvd or usb stick the drivers are on. Then go to this folder in the chipset drivers:

AMD_chipset_V307650_XPVistaWin7\Chipset\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\SB8xx\RAID\W764A

When you click okay, windows should load the files from that directory and carry on with the installation process.

thanks dru that was going to be my next step when i got home from work, i just wasnt sure what the chipset stuff is
